by RC deWinter
i live for night
impatient for its swallowing
the unlovely glare of day
that endless maze of corners
round which nothing waits
but contours of routine
the shuttering of eyes
(my escape clause
from the pitiless directives
of the day)
and then
the slide
into the sea of dreams
where guiltless
blameless
weightless
i
a fluid feral nymph
float
not alone
i take the sand from
its dark depths
and sculpt a god
(i have a need sometimes
for someone to adore)
to play poseidon
fabled for his excursions
into lust
and once constructed
our bright water dance begins
until at last
no longer sand
but skin on skin
i surrender
to the master i have made
silky caresses sliding into
rough passionate embrace
the rich hot mingling of tongues
twining of limbs inseparable
these dreams of mine!
from which i never want to wake
