Clean Bugs, Dirty Carpet

by Brett Stout

The trending of negative scars,

the warzone isn’t out there
it’s in here,

the militant swans
of the
underground resistance movement
renting ghetto apartments
with bad credit and
worse souls
in an unknown
Terminus City
funerals for future fuehrers
and class clowns
wiretap my docile body
and defile the
mannequin after midnight
feed me old bread and
rusted hypodermic formulas
and vintage
cataract addictions
with
birthday cards addressed,

to:

no one
Che Guevara
vintage apathy
books never read
PTSD laden nightmares
broken teeth
and
ongoing wars,

the trending of negative scars,

the warzone isn’t out there
it’s in here.
